Third Appointment

Today was quick, but good.  We got a quick glimpse of the twins to check for heartbeats on the ultrasound, and both were fine.  One of them had the hiccups, and was sucking his thumb, which was super cute.

Both are heads up right now, with one facing sideways, and the other facing straight out.  Kam is 14 Weeks, 1 day.

As of today or yesterday the bad symptoms seemed to have stopped.  Good news, and crossing fingers to hope it stays that way.

The doctor brought up a question for us to figure out for our next visit.  We can get a blood test performed to detect a couple defects and issues like down syndrome, and spinal ep-something or other.  We’re not sure what to do, as the test is not conclusive and can produce false positives.  Worrying for nothing doesn’t sound fun, especially after what we just went through.  Not decided yet though.

We don’t have another appointment for another month, but I’ll try to post more updates anyways.  We need to get a newer side shot of the belly up in the photo gallery.  Have a good new year holiday!

Quick Update

This week has been quite the week for us both.  Not because of Christmas, but because of problems with the pregnancy.  I’ll get the news out of the way though, and say that the twins are both fine, and hopefully things are looking better as of today.

It started on the 15th or 16th, I can’t remember, but Kam started experiencing some pretty bad symptoms.  Sunday night was the worst.  I won’t get into details, but it was pretty scary.  We had called up nurse direct both times and was told to wait and see.  We did, and Kam stayed at home on Monday.  I went off to work, and things got worse from there.  She calls me up and we are both scared to death.  I come home and we wait to go see the ultrasound.

Thankfully, both kids looked just fine.  Talk about scary though.  We speak with the doctor and he decides Kam should stay home for a week and take it easy.  Each day from then on seemed to get better.  The symptoms have not fully left yet, and from what we understand may not, but at least we know the kiddos are fine.

That week was tiresome for both of us.  I’ve been taking care of the cleaning, and cooking, grabbing as much as I can for Kamie.  Kam’s been stuck on the couch, bored out of her mind.  I went out and bought a crossword puzzle book, and an electronic yathzee to help.  She currently holds the high score on the game :).

So that was pretty much it.  We missed out on Christmas with her family because we were not to travel.  Today she started work again, and I’m guessing it was pretty difficult.  I’ll probably offer to buy dinner tonite as a treat.  We posted the photos we recieved from the recent ultrasound visit in the gallery.  Some cool 3D ones are in there.  The kids are pretty big now, and squeezed right up next to each other.

Next appointment is tomorrow.  We won’t be getting photos from this one, but will see the twins on the smaller ultrasound.

Oh, and Kam is now 14 weeks, and out of the first trimester!  She’s showing already quite a bit, which is pretty cool to see.  There’s photos of that out there too.  Have a good New Years all!

Second Appointment

We just had our second appointment yesterday.  Kam is now 10 weeks, 1 day along.  Kam attended the first appointment which was baby education.  She was given a big spiral book filled with information about all things pregnancy, magazines, and pamplets.  My favorite is the magazine that contains lots of photos and descriptions of each week of development.  Our kid’s have reached fetus status :)

I showed up for the second appointment about 15 minutes early and Kamie wasn’t there.  The receptionists said she was here but left and will be back for her next appointment.  I decided to go down outside and call her to see if she went home.  No answer.  I turned around and there she was inside the entrance.  She had went to the cafeteria to wait for her next appointment.

So we goto the next appointment and Kam tells me we get to hear the heartbeats.  The doctor rolls in with an ultrasound machine instead!  We get to see them instead of just hear because the doctor believed it would be difficult to listen to them at this stage, especially both.

So the image comes up and I get to see Baby A right away.  And Baby A decides to put on a show.  He/She kicked out it’s little legs and does a little hop.  Very cute.  Kam missed that one.  Then the doctor moves the machine a little, and Baby B is now up on the screen.  Kam can see the screen now, and Baby B thankfully kicked up too so she could see it.  They are both looking alot more like babies now, with arms, hands and legs formed.  We didn’t get a photo this time though.

Next the doctor went over what to expect for us.  Basically, Kam will not carry a full term no matter what.  Twins normally deliver early, but even if they didn’t the doctor is going to induce early or csection depending on the position.  Also we found out that if they come week 34 or earlier, we’ll have to goto a different hospital, because ours is not equipped for births that early.

That’s about all for now.  I’m going to get on Kam’s case to post an entry :)
