4 1/2 Months Old

Thought it time for an update, and figured I’d try this way I’d been making notes about them to remember everything since last posting.

James:
-weighs 13lbs 12oz - 30%
-height 24 1/2 inches - is now taller than his sister, despite being shorter at birth
-head circumference 40.5
-squeals, screams and squaks with excitement
-a ball of happiness most days now with what we decided was collic pretty much all gone
-HATES the bath. He knows when it’s coming and cries thru it. *we’ve tried just a toe in and other things-he just isn’t a bath guy*
-has one birthmark-a stork bite on the back of his neck which came around 2 months old and is going away slowly
-kicks now only in excitement or playtime (with the collic he was kicking ALL the time)
-rolls from tummy to back  (has since just before 2 months old)
-rolled from back to side as of Friday 10-19-07
-sits for a little while alone, much longer with assistance
-can go from sitting to laying on tummy without help (with arms and legs stretched out when done)
-first confirmed laugh 10/05/07
-LOVES to watch things and gets very excited, he is starting to want to touch things a lot more
-reaches for toys when on his belly
-is almost always nursing for the task at hand, sometimes he talks alittle but mostly is there to eat and smile-but all while still eating
-has a ’start’ up before crying, it’s a heeeheeeheeeheee type thing, he also makes some noise that sounds like a motorbike reving up or such
-HATES to be burped, 50% of the time he makes some sort of noise of dislike while it’s being done-but as soon as it is over he’s happy to just chill on my lap for a while
-is getting hair, he may well surpass Evelyn… when he was born he had this hair stuck to his head, but had lost patches-he now has a nice full head of hair
-loves to watch TV and gets excited, the last thing I remember him getting excited for was something on CSI
-still on reflux meds, will stop at the end of this prescription and see if he tolerates it, dosage was increased
-is OK with rice cereal, opens mouth and doesn’t push it out till he’s done (4/5 spoons) granted we’ve only tried it 3 times now

 
Evelyn:
-weighs 14lbs 6oz - 75%
-height 23 3/4 inches
-head circumference 41
-enjoys the bath-sometimes
-has 3 birthmarks, same stork bite as James but had hers within 2 weeks of birth and hers is staying longer, also a angel kiss above her left eye and another mark of somekind on her belly
-rolls from tummy to back as of their 2 month ‘b-day’
-sits for a little while alone, much longer with assistance
-can go from sitting to laying on tummy without help (with arms and legs stretched out when done)
-first confirmed laugh 10/07/07
-LOVES to scratch things, she’s always grabbing at anything she can get ahold of
-scrunches her nose up when you touch it
-went thru the puffy fish lips cheeks period which is shown in a photo in the gallery, then we were ‘biting’ our bottom lip and now she moves her tounge around like crazy slopping and clicking it around her top lip-must get video of this
-looks around during most nursing sessions-she’s a social eater taking breaks to talk to me and look around the room/watch TV
-is losing hair… she has a mowhawk (see the gallery for a photo, I know I’m a mean Mom)… she lost the hair on top of her head, leaving a ‘landing strip’ in the middle-sometimes it looks like a comb-over
-went thru a phase where she straightened her legs completely while being changed while also puffing up her chest and arching her back, now she’s pulling her legs up instead
-looks seriously at most people and things
-isn’t too keen on rice cereal, spits it out most times, or makes gagging sounds (though only tried 3 times, and she wasn’t herself during them (reaction to the 4 month shots))
-had a reaction to 4month shots, 102 fever and she vomited a few times, subsided within 24 hours

 
Random ’stuff ‘ applies to both:
-last size 1/2 diaper was worn 10-19-07 we are now onto size 2
-they are both in their own cribs now, as of 10-02-07 - they started to move around far too much and were kicking each other thru the night thusly waking up themselves and their sibling
-both enjoy time in their exersaucer type toys, usually entertaining themselves for 20-30 minutes at a time
-both enjoy looking at and talking to each other… and holding hands…if they are near each other they are touching each other
-both play with their toys for around 5-15 minutes alone, sometimes longer-as long as you give them their toy back (they tend to drop it :)) Using their feet also to play with the toy
-both sleep from 9pm till 8am or later
-both push straight up when on their tummies with elbows fully extended
-both will take a pacifier sometimes again, so we keep them around, neither really likes them though and prefers to chew on them
-both stand while in one of their excersaucer type toys.
-both kids gained exactally 3 lbs 6 oz since their last visit

One and 10 Years Ago

One year ago yesterday we found out we were expecting.

Ten years ago today we were married.

I had an awesome post done up yesterday about it being a year since we found out we were expecting, but the board ate it when I went to post it. So I’ll try again.

I remember the day like yesterday. We both had off, it was a Monday, because we had originally taken the day to celebrate our anniversary. Instead we were having our furnace replaced. The furnace people were supposed to arrive at 8am, but they were early at 7:30 so I never had the chance to tell James our news before they got here.

They finally left around noon, so during that time as not to spoil the suprise I went to the grocery store, went to Target and then hung out in my scrapbooking room so I wouldn’t have to see him and thusly I was sure he’d see on my face.

Hehe, I remember buying a dount at the grocery store. It had looked SOOOO good when I was there. On the drive to Target I took a bite… EWWW! It did not sit well. James should have known something was up when I came in the house with that donut and he had to eat it. Thru the whole pregnancy I never liked sweets really, and keep chocolate away from me, the site, scent Eww!

Which reminds me, I’m owed a box of Turtles from Hughs Chocolates… as we bought them knowing I didn’t like it, but because we’d never had it and we happened to drive by it accidentally I wasn’t passing up the option. James opened the box and devoured one, whilst I gagged. So he was to save me one Which didn’t happen

Back to the story, whilst in my scrapbooking room I made a card for him, and just before they were finished with the furnace I ran upstairs and put the card and the test in the musical dogs arms I’d bought for James at Target, and attached the big that said “I love Daddy” I’d have for a while.

When they were gone, I ran down the stairs  to meet him, he was asking what we were going to do with the rest of our day off. I handed him the puppy and will never forget his response… “are you joking?” or the shock on his face. I think he semi collapsed to the floor and basically said nothing else for a while. Eventually he got up, and we went to a few stores-obviously looking at baby things.

And, our wedding 10 years ago… wow. 10 freaking years. It feels like so long ago, yet it feels like so little time has passed. Here’s hoping for 10 more years filled with the joy of James & Evelyn in our lives which brings us great joy and fullfills our lives. I wanted to write more about our wedding anniversary and a recap of our lives thus far, but the kids are awaking from what seems like a pretty consistant nap these days so I shall be feeding them now.
