7 Months Old
Things are really moving here lately, for the kids I mean. In the last week we’ve put away their bouncy chairs, and the bassinet we had in our living room for the kids. With our recent move down to the family room, that room never gets used anymore-it is kind of nice to have it back to an ‘adult’ room but it also tears at my heart a bit as we are saying good-bye to that part of their lives.
Then Saturday we decided we had to put the kids matresses down to the lower stage. Lil man James decided he was ready to try to pull himself from sitting to standing while in his crib this morning. Thankfully it was when we were in the room with him-he also tried it later in the pack N play which has a bassinet also.
He’s quite good actually. He got to standing on his own while in the crib, not sure about the Pack N Play, I was making baby food upstairs when James said he was doing it again.
Both Evelyn and James are doing new things everyday it seems. Here are a few highlights/quirks as of lately.
James is now babbling up a storm. He is too, too cute! He says “Dada”, “Nah”, “Hey”, “Ah” and a few others that I can’t really think of at the moment. He is constantly playing with his voice and he is qutie loud sometimes ;0)
Friday night James figured out how to move his legs to crawl. He has been moving around for a while now by going backwards or by moving forwards by doing a ‘push-up’ type move, which he also went backwards durning this sometimes also. He just needs to get the hands/arms figured out now. I have a video of him I’ll have to edit and get up. I think I caught a Dada also…
He LOVES the jumperoo/johnny jumper. He just figured it out one day and is really enjoying being in it. We limit it to only up to 30 minutes a day, and most days it isn’t even that long but he looks so cute in them. He started out kicking off with just one foot but now he full on does it with both legs.
Evelyn also likes them, maybe the Johnny Jumper more as they can sort of walk around in that as she’s not really a bouncer-at least not yet.
Ohh, and I have video to edit of James, hopefully, roaring. ‘Santa’ brought the kids these Amazing Animals things from Fisher Price, a Polar Bear and Monkey one, and the largest of the animals make noises.
When James was playing with lil James and making the polar bear roar, he did it once, and then again and lil James roared right back at the bear! I was up in the kitchen so I peeked down the stairs to hear it. I ran quick to get him on video doing it, but stinker of course wasn’t doing it anymore. I do think I caught it though, just once.
Evelyn roared by herself about two months ago. She just started doing it one day-not sure where she picked it up. Wait, I think it was more like a growl. I think there might even be video of that-already uploaded.
She is also babbling. She went thru this phase where she was yelling at us all the time. She is very expressive in her talking and generally reserves it for ’special times’. Usually she would yell just before it was feeding time or when she woke up in the morning. Now she is babbling more like James is, she gets out more of a “Bababa” and “gaga”. I think she has done a few “Dada’s” in there though.
I had been singing “Dadada” to them, I really wanted Dada to be first-and it normally is. It’s easier for them to say… but now I”m all like Mama.. Mama… I’ve gotten a few Mmmm sounds, so I think it’s not far off.
Evelyn is a toy theif. She will try to take away the toy James is going for, or if he gets it she tries to take it away after he has possession. Yes, she’ll be happily playing with this or that toy and James with his own. James decides he is done with said toy and goes for another toy not currently being used by either… and the race is on! As quick as can be Evelyn bends as far over as she can and reaches out her cute lil arm to try to get the toy he is after.
Sometimes she is successful, and others she isn’t. Thankfully she doesn’t get upset when she doesn’t get the toy-and also, James isn’t if she does, he just picks a different toy. Atleast for now-it’s an OK thing.
James touches when/where he shouldn’t, mainly and mostly his sister who 90% of the time greatly dislikes it. He also really, really, really likes hair-Mommy’s hair as he hasn’t really been around too many other people’s hair. He did grab Santa’s when we saw him and my friend Laura’s when she stopped by.
They enjoy frozen peaches, bananas and avacado these days in these ‘mesh’ feeders I got for them. I had made homemade baby food for them, as we’d run out of the stage 1 stuff we bought way back when and got a super good deal on (like 200 jars of food for $5). I don’t think the kids like it so much. So we’ll keep it for a while and try again (it’s all frozen).
Evelyn does this crazy thing with her tounge lately. She swirls it around and sort of clicks it like you would lick your lips when something tastes good type of noise. It is cute- she likes to do it when she’s having her cereals or is excited
Evelyn also has some stranger troubles. She is OK sometimes, and others she wants nothing to do with anyone but Mommy or Daddy.
I’m sure I’m missing things, but I have had this in draft for overĀ a week. Time to just get it up there!
