Update

James is doing great on the rice milk. Yippee!!
We are now back on the Miralax even.

We started to introduce some wheat foods back in, here and there, but it didn’t go the greatest, he itches and scratches himself pretty raw. So we’ve gone back to more wheat-free than not still.

EAA Airventure (world’s largest celebration of aviation, a week long, here in Oshkosh, which makes it the busiest airport in the world for that week) is in full swing here, and the constant planes scare James a little bit. Every plane sounds different as a flies over head and he is a bit skittish about such things. The cool thing is the celebrities who come(Harrison Ford ( I think he’s here every year), John Travolta, Sir Richard Branson is here today to announce something with his Galactic (flights into space), The Beach Boys preformed last year, Jeff Dunham this and last year, the airbus is coming, and ‘ELVIS’ , though we don’t see them. Haha, but then the uncool tourists, like the one who parked us in at Target the other day. :(

Here you can see the “airbus” crossing our street.

I took the kids to the splash pad the other day, Evelyn wasn’t too keen on it, preferring to just sit by me and James while hesitant quickly got the hang of it and ran around like the adorable little ham he is.

SO grown up!

I have to share these two photos, they are two of my favorites right now.

more drama

We saw the pediatrician this week after James just did not stop having some issues.

Since the best we could do for a ‘when it started’ was when we switched to soymilk, we switching him once again, this time to Rice milk. He is liking it, the following morning, after having it just twice. This….

is what happened. We really really just want James to feel better, and not look so sickly!

He hasn’t had it since, so that perhaps means this particular breakout wasn’t from the milk. That would be good, his other issues have begun to stop also. So that’s a good positive. The negative, he’s still having splotches on his face randomly.

We are both thankful that it’s not worse, I mean he could be so allergic to things he needs an epi pen (though we’ve been told that’ll happen soon enough). These are cosmetic, itchy, scratchy, intestinal issues. Which aren’t fun, and being up with James thru the night on the bad nights I can say isn’t so much fun either, but it could be worse.

Otherwise, we are good. They are both chatting up a storm, you can’t always tell what they are saying but that’s OK. They are gorgeous kids, I seriously am taken aback sometimes, by them.

They are up! I better scoot.
They are crazy good sleepers! We are still doing a 7:30pm bedtime, and they wake around 8, 8:30 or later if I too sleep in. Somehow I must make just enough noise if I get up to stir them for sure by 8, but sometimes 7:30, though they don’t get ‘up’ till 8 ever. They then nap from 1pm-3:30/4pm. I’m a LUCKY mom.

life

I can’t believe it’s been 3 weeks since we saw the allergist. James is doing well on being off the cow’s milk. I am amazed at how his tummy isn’t all bloated, never thought it could be an allergy, just thought he drank too much too quickly. Feel bad now, but he’s just a different kid.

He LOVES his wheat free foods, and eats much better now.

We discussed a new possible issue with the DR this morning, and we will be keeping a food journal of the items which cause troubles, to better pinpoint. Right now, she may test him later on for Oat, as he’s had two instances with oat items where he’s broken out. I think she should have today, but I take her ‘word’ as a Dr over my own. But James’ face was certainly broke out from it. Whatever the cause. And given the full on 7 day hives issue. But, we have only given him oats those two times that I can recall. Like full of oat item. He broke out slightly from french toast & bacon yesterday- but she thought it might just have been an irritant against his skin (ie: the bacon grease).

Like I was saying though, he’s been doing better. His face was almost all cleared up and his eczema is almost 100% cleared too. Just a patch on his back of his neck, which is where it started actually and we thought he was allergic to some carters brand clothes that were ‘recalled’ for allergy to the paint they used, but it was just a rash and he wasn’t in pain so we figured it was OK. So I’m not sure if that’s the culprit. I plan to send them back, and am about to go sort through all their things. :(

We are stopping the itch oral medication and the special cream and are now just putting some other cream OTC on him everyday, and in the winter 2x a day. She said she fully expects at some point for us to need to see her when he gets it on his face (needs a different type of medication) and/or with our food list when we keep track.

For now, we limit his outdoor time to 1 hour, and keep him in cool areas when ever possible.

It’s was a big holiday weekend here, James was off Friday which was nice. The kids love having him home. We went to the YMCA pool on Thursday night, and then this activity place with bouncy houses and such on Friday along with eating a Tom’s Drive-In. Mmmm! Today we hit the parade, J&E’s first and our first in this town. It was fun. They got a bit bored after 30-40 mins though. We did a gallery walk of our downtown that night and skipped the fireworks.

Sunday we did some stuff around the house, and a walk to the park. Nothing too fancy.
