in and out, dresses and splitting

A week or so ago James figured out how to get out of his crib and into Evelyn’s. This in it’s self wasn’t that big an issue, at least not the reason that lead to the seperation of J&E into their own rooms. It was why we went ahead with toddler beds at the same time. The reason was that James likes to remove his diaper. We had finally figured out a way to keep it on (backward PJs with duct tape over the zipper) but with his new-found freedom (getting in and out of the crib) and Evelyn’s determination. They had together figured how to get him out of everything. Evelyn even assisted in attempting to clean his mess up when the diaper was gotten off. But, I can’t foresee wanting to clean down surfaces, and doing laundry up to two times a day (if they’d do this every time they are in their beds).

So that Saturday my Dad thankfully came to take our spare bed, and we began the process of making their beds into toddler beds. We made the choice to throw away the ‘crib’ parts. James had chewed on his quite a bit, and Evelyn a little. We figured if we had more kids, they wouldn’t be ’safe’ anyhow with the wood showing and that we wouldn’t be going backwards (putting them back into cribs) after going forward with the toddler beds. So, to the curb they went.

They were excited to nap in their new beds, and separate rooms. That night Evelyn shed tears when she realized they were not going to bed in the same room. Tears have been shed on occasion since that night, but mostly they aren’t happy but understand at this point.

It is heartbreaking to see them sad about it. Love that they are able to answer us to know what is wrong though, because that helps. Both seem to get that they are apart, but doesn’t stop the tears occasionally. James is waking a bit thru the first few hour he’s put down but who knows his real cause, this is something he’s had trouble with through his life.

I have had a few photography jobs which makes me happy! Thanks to my lovely husband for encouraging me! Here’s one from their shoot.

Evelyn and James were asked to be in my cousins wedding as the mini bride/groom err flower girl/ring bearer. We went shopping with the bride & bridesmaids last weekend and Evelyn got her dress!
